LUCKNOW: In a major step towards women empowerment, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed police commissioners and district police chiefs on Monday to post a woman SHO at an additional police station, over and above the existing Mahila Thana, in every district. In an unprecedented dialogue in which he interacted directly with over 2,600 field officers of all levels -- from the Zonal ADGs to stations officers -- the CM cautioned them that every police station, circle, range, and zone was under direct monitoring. "If there is any irregularity, it will invite immediate removal or even termination of service," he said. The CM asked all police commissioners and police chiefs to ensure immediate compliance and post one additional woman SHO in every district. "Such officers should be given an efficient team," he added.Strictest action should be taken no matter how powerful a criminal is: CMThe CM was interacting with all SHOs, circle officers, district police chiefs, IGs and ADGs from the newly constructed SM Dashboard office at Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan in the state capital on Monday. The CM also said that the new phase of Mission Shakti which is starting during the Navratri, would be useful from the point of view of awareness of womens safety and rights. As part of this initiative, every week, two women police personnel, along with Asha sisters, Anganwadi workers, ANMs, BC Sakhis, Rozgar Sevaks, and others, will engage with women in a selected gram panchayat to educate them about their rights and inform them about government efforts to ensure their safety. Yogi directed the officials to take strict action against crime and criminals with a policy of zero tolerance. He said that no matter how powerful the criminal was, strictest action should be taken against them as per rules. Based on the actions in exposing criminal incidents such as murder, rape, robbery, dacoity, religious conversion from January 2023 to August 2023, as well as performance on the IGRS portal, the CM communicated with officers from approximately two dozen districts. "Public interest is the topmost priority of the government," he said, adding "negligence cannot be accepted. The increase in criminal incidents and the delay in their charge sheet and disposal show the negligence of the police station, circle, and police superintendent concerned." Addressing the SHOs, he said that they should give respect to every complainant. "Listen to their pain and provide appropriate solutions," he said. Appreciating the work of the women beat officers, the CM encouraged the SHOs to communicate with the women beat officers and gram chowkidars once a week. While giving instructions to take action against bike stunt performers and vehicles bearing religious symbols, the CM directed continuous patrolling in sensitive areas. He also gave instructions for the deployment of qualified police personnel in GRP and border police stations. The CM emphasized the importance of raising awareness about helpline numbers such as 108, 1090, and 181, and ensuring that eligible women are enrolled in public welfare schemes like pension, Kanya Sumangala, and Matritva Vandana Yojana. He also gave instructions to complete the process of designating Gautam Budh Nagar and all the 17 municipal corporations as safe cities by October 14.
