Remove hoardings, MC warns political parties

The MC has advised the political parties not to display such illegal political hoardings and illegal advertisements. In the letter to the political parties, the MC said the policy was to be implemented in a right manner. As per the policy, illegal hoarding posters and illegal advertisements cannot be displayed in the city. If the rules are violated, then the MC would remove the illegal political advertisements and requisite action would be taken as per Punjab Municipal Act 1976, letter reads. It came to light that illegal political hoardings and posters are being displayed on roads, intersections, private buildings and offices and these illegal advertisements are violating the policy, the letter reads.

Ludhiana, June 13 To ensure implementation of new advertisement policy, the Municipal Corporation has issued an advisory to all major political parties to avoid displaying their illegal hoardings and advertisements in the city. The MC Commissioner, Jaskiran Singh, has written to the major parties including Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP, Aam Aadmi Party, Lok Insaaf Party and BSP, asking not to display any political hoarding and other illegal advertisements. The notification for new advertising policy ‘The Punjab Municipal Outdoor Advertisement Policy 2018’ was issued on March 21. As per the policy, illegal hoarding posters and illegal advertisements cannot be displayed in the city. Even the responsibility of the officials has been fixed. In the letter to the political parties, the MC said the policy was to be implemented in a right manner.
