PATIALA: The Nabha police has arrested the husband and mother-in-law of a woman, who died three days after reportedly being set on fire at her in-laws house in Sajju Bhatt village of Nabha division in Patiala Family members of the deceased have refused to cremate the body and had given an ultimatum to the police to arrest the remaining accused or they would stage an agitation.According to the cops, a case was registered on June 16 against four accused, including the husband and mother-in-law of the deceased. However, on Tuesday sections of murder were also added.According to the family of the deceased, who has been identified as Rajni, she was allegedly set on fire by her in-laws. Rajni hailed from Patiala city and had married Major Singh, a labourer by profession, in October 2016. Rajni's kin claimed that she was tortured for not being beautiful after which she left the house of in-laws four months into the marriage.They added that Rajni remained separated from her husband for around 10 months, however, she went back after both families got them reconciled. She was again allegedly tortured for dowry this time. The family members along with Rajni filed a complaint with the Kotwali police in Patiala, but the matter was resolved again as police got reconciliation between the woman and her husband.On June 16, Rajni reportedly caught fire in her washroom and her husband claimed that she attempted suicide. However, Rajni's family claimed that hair on her head was not damaged in the fire that clearly depicted that she did not put oil on herself rather it was thrown on her before she was set afire.On the complaint of Rajni's father Ashok Kumar a case under sections of murder and dowry has been registeredagainst four persons.
