Drug trafficking: Couple convicted

Our Legal CorrespondentLudhiana July 11Additional Sessions Judge Amarpaul has convicted Amarjit Singh and his wife Sandeep Kaur of Adarsh Nagar, Jalandhar, in a drug trafficking case. A case was registered against them on December 18, 2014, at Sadar Jagraon police station under the NDPS Act. They pleaded innocence during the trial, but failed to prove it. They were ordered to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 10 years each. A fine of Rs1 lakh each was also imposed on them.

They were ordered to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 10 years each. A fine of Rs1 lakh each was also imposed on them. A case was registered against them on December 18, 2014, at Sadar Jagraon police station under the NDPS Act. The police had recovered 9-kg opium from their car. They pleaded innocence during the trial, but failed to prove it.
