Cops deployed to stop flats’ construction at Ishar Nagar

The MC has also deployed police personnel to stop construction at the site to ensure implementation of the instructions in this case. Khaira said: “The MC had deployed police force in the morning to stop construction at the site. An RTI activist, Kuldeep Singh Khaira, had earlier filed a complaint against the construction of flats by a private firm. The police have been deployed permanently to keep a vigil at the site.” Denying the allegations, he said the construction of flats had not been resumed, nor had the police left the site.

Ludhiana, July 11 As an inquiry into the construction of flats at Ishar Nagar is pending, the Municipal Corporation has directed the builder to stop construction till completion of the inquiry. The MC has also deployed police personnel to stop construction at the site to ensure implementation of the instructions in this case. An RTI activist, Kuldeep Singh Khaira, had earlier filed a complaint against the construction of flats by a private firm. Following the complaints about alleged violations, the Municipal Commissioner formed a committee for redress of complaints regarding building plan of the flats. The Local Bodies Department has given instructions to the MC to submit a report within seven days after taking decision on the complaints. Khaira said: “The MC had deployed police force in the morning to stop construction at the site. After an hour, the police were asked to leave the place due to political interference. Now, construction has been resumed at the site. The MC should ensure completion of the inquiry in a fair manner.” Assistant Town Planner (ATP) Zone C Harwinder Singh Honey said: “We have given directions to the builder concerned to stop construction at the site as an inquiry is under way. The police have been deployed permanently to keep a vigil at the site.” Denying the allegations, he said the construction of flats had not been resumed, nor had the police left the site.
