Further the police administration, district administration and NGOs will help in treatment of indoor and outdoor patients,” added Lamba.The ADCP said the entire process would start within two weeks. Now we have planned to use these committees for people who need help for rehabilitation and de-addiction.”“Since members of these committees are public representatives, they are well known about addicts of their areas.

The cops are tying up with the district administration, NGOs and prominent politicians to get assistance in providing medical aid to addicts at minimal price or free.Importantly, the city has witnessed five alleged drug overdose deaths in the past six months. Notably, these deaths exclude cases in which the dose was given by another person.While some officials claimed that the figure would be higher, the Ludhiana police commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill has claimed that none of the these deaths could be confirmed as ‘drug overdose’ as the chemical reports are awaited in all these cases.Additional deputy commissioner of police (special branch) Surendra Lamba said, “We already have Sanjh Kendra public committees that work as mediators between public and police. Now we have planned to use these committees for people who need help for rehabilitation and de-addiction.”“Since members of these committees are public representatives, they are well known about addicts of their areas. The committee members will provide details by the next week. Further the police administration, district administration and NGOs will help in treatment of indoor and outdoor patients,” added Lamba.The ADCP said the entire process would start within two weeks.
