Punjab: Govt school teacher booked for molesting minor girl student

The accused teacher had locked himself in the school room and when he came out, the villagers beat him up. Punjab education minister Om Prakash Soni has taken strong exception of the incident and instructed education secretary Krishan Kumar to take stern departmental action against the accused teacher. The minister said that such acts would not be tolerated at any cost.The teacher had been harassing the girl child since July 6 and it came to light when the survivor girl told her parents, who then reached the school with the village sarpanch. The SHO added that police teams were searching the accused and he would be taken into custody very soon.The district police have registered a case against the accused under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of Indian Penal Code and 12 (punishment for sexual harassment) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
