LUDHIANA: Thriving on thrill, a city-based businessman has taken inspiration from adventure lovers around the world to start exploring new places in his SUV.Recently, Karan Khanna, 31, a dyeing industry owner from SBS Nagar, along with adventure lovers from other states completed an expedition in Lahaul Spiti in Himachal Pradesh.Earlier this year, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Jordon during his official tour of countries in the middle east, Karan Khanna had also visited the country for an adventure trip.“I am a part of the group of travelers which includes two world record holders. They also completed a 70,000-km world trip, covering 50 countries across six continents.”“As I love adventures, I went on this trip with the group that had 10 participants from London, Tanzania, Mysuru, Mumbai, Delhi and Ghaziabad. We started the expedition from Narkanda after crossing Shimla on June 29,” said Karan, a commerce graduate.“Our convoy of 10 SUVs went to Sangla and on the way we explored Chitkul village which is last inhabited village on Indo-China border. Next day, we went to Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in India, located in Tabo village of Spiti Valley.”He said on the way, they visited Kharcham Wangtoo dam which is the largest private sector hydro plant in India.Next day while travelling to Kaza, they drove on a terrain which is world’s most treacherous road. “It was great experience. We also stopped at world's highest fuel pump in Kaza which is located at a height of 12,270ft above sea level,” Karan added.“Next day, we visited Komic village connected with a motorable road situated at a height of 15045 ft. On our way back, we visited Hikkim branch post office which is world's highest post office (14,567 ft). A day after we visited Ki monastery which is also 1000 years old and located at an altitude of 13688 ft above sea level.”“On the last day in Spiti valley, we covered 190 kms from Kaza to Manali. On our way to Manali, we stopped at Kunzum pass located at a height of 15059 ft and saw serene beauty which can't be expressed in words,” Karan said.He completed the expedition on July 8.“This is an unique experience for me.
