LUDHIANA: There is good news for frequent flyers between Ludhiana and New Delhi as the city will have a flight even on Sundays soon. As of now, the flight between two cities operates four days a week and doesn’t operate on Sundays. Airport director Anand Narayan Sharma said Alliance Air flight would now operate five days a week including on Sundays. He added that flight on Sundays will start from next week (July 29).The second good news for residents is that the flight will operate in the morning hours. Whereas the flight will take off from Indira Gandhi International Airport at 7.30am, it will arrive at Sahnewal Airport at 8.45am. The 70-seater flight will take off from Sahnewal Airport at 9.15am and it will reach Delhi at 10.30am.As of now, the flight between two cities flies on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.Airport officials said whereas the flight will carry around 40 passengers from Sahnewal to Delhi, the flight from Delhi will carry 70 passengers. They said this is because of the fact that there is risk involved in taking off with higher load (full capacity) from Sahnewal Airport due to presence of high trees. The airport authorities said they expect a good response to the flight on Sunday as the flight already running between two cities has occupancy of more than 80%.The residents, meanwhile, say the start of flight on Sundays is good news.“It is good news as we will have option of flying by air on Sundays as well. The best part is that flight will operate in the morning hours and we can fly to Delhi and proceed towards other destinations on the same day,” said Satpal Singh, a city-based businessman.
