Ludhiana: Two men were killed while another suffered critical injuries in a hit and run case near Garhi.The victims — identified as 27-year-old Madan Sawhney and 24-year-old Ajay Sawhney of Bihar — along with another construction worker Shakti Kumar were returning to their rented accommodation at Garhi Tarkhana, when an unidentified vehicle rammed into their two-wheeler.Police officials said the trio was involved in construction work in a village in Samrala. They added that as the trio reached Neelon Canal, a speeding vehicle came from opposite side and collided into their bike.Cops said the unidentified vehicle dragged the two wheeler to some distance before coming to a stop. They added Ajay and Madan died on the spot and their bodies were badly disfigured. Shakti Kumar suffered serious injuries.Police officials said the driver of unidentified vehicle sped away. They added that later some passerby spotted the bodies lying on the road and informed the police.Cops said police took Shakti to Samrala Civil Hospital from where he was referred to PGI Chandigarh after his condition deteriorated. They added that the police also shifted the bodies of the deceased to Samrala civil hospital for autopsy.Samrala police have registered a case under Section 304 A (Causing death by negligence) and 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unknown driver.Inspector Bhupinder Singh, SHO, Samrala police station, said as of now they don’t know about the vehicle that caused the accident and things will become clear once the injured regains consciousness. He added that there was no CCTV camera in the area.Meanwhile, Babu Ram, relative of the deceased, said his relative would go from village to village for work. He added that after they didn’t return on Friday night, they got worried and later came to know some vehicle had crushed them.
