Assets of co-accused in drugs case attached

Kandola is already facing six cases registered by Delhi police and ED under the NDPS Act. It seized 250gm of heroin from the car on June 13, 2012. The attached properties include hotels, flats, houses, residential plots and even agricultural land.Prosecution complaints/ charge-sheets have already been filed by the directorate against three of the main accused, including Kandola, before the special court in Jalandhar, where trial proceedings are going on.

LUDHIANA: In a major development in the infamous Raja Kandola drugs case, the enforcement directorate’s (ED) zonal office, Jalandhar , on Tuesday attached assets worth Rs 1.08 crore of Nishan Singh, a resident of Sunam, who is a coaccused in this case.A statement was issued by the ED on Tuesday, which said, “The ED issued a provisional attachment order for attaching immovable properties valued at Rs 1.08 crore in the name of Nishan Singh and his family members and a Toyota Corolla Altis car registered in his name. Nishan is an accused in a drug case involving Ranjit Singh Kandola, alias Raja Kandola.”The statement further read, “Kartarpur police had registered an FIR against Kandola and others in 2012. It seized 250gm of heroin from the car on June 13, 2012. The ED started investigation in the case on October 29, 2012.”Properties worth Rs 6.34 crore have already been attached in the Kandola case by the ED. The attached properties include hotels, flats, houses, residential plots and even agricultural land.Prosecution complaints/ charge-sheets have already been filed by the directorate against three of the main accused, including Kandola, before the special court in Jalandhar, where trial proceedings are going on. As per ED officials, the investigation against the remaining accused is in progress.Kandola, known as BMW Singh in Punjab as he used to flaunt his luxury cars, has now been booked by the STF for supplying heroin to various dealers through two Jalandhar-based NRIs. Kandola is already facing six cases registered by Delhi police and ED under the NDPS Act.
