Ludhiana police arrest Air Force employee for wife's murder

LUDHIANA: Sudhar police on Sunday arrested an Air Force employee for the murder of his wife at New Akalgarh. Police officials said the deceased Shabnam Ansari (43) had got a piece of land from her parents at her native place in Sitamarhi. The accused was identified as Masleh Hadeen Ansari (47) of Sitamarhi in Bihar who was posted as a sergeant in Halwara air force station . They added that Masleh had been transferred to Halwara from Jodhpur around two months ago. They added that on Saturday night, the accused again started fighting with his wife over the issue.

Police officials said the deceased Shabnam Ansari (43) had got a piece of land from her parents at her native place in Sitamarhi. They added that the accused would ask her to sell the land and get money.Cops said Inzamam -ul -Haq, brother of the deceased, had come to New Akalgarh a few days ago to broker peace between his brother -in -law and his sister. They added that on Saturday night, the accused again started fighting with his wife over the issue. Police officials said as the couple started raising their voices, they then went to the roof to fight. They added that Shabnam then slapped Masleh after he abused her. Then, Masleh pushed her to the ground, where his head hit a brick.Cops said as blood started oozing out of her wound and she fell unconscious, Masleh went downstairs and brought a knife and stabbed her multiple times in the face, head, neck, and chest area, resulting in her death. They added that Masleh then came down from the roof leaving his wife's dead body there, and slept.Police officials said in the morning the person who collects garbage came, after which three children and brother of the deceased started looking for her. They added that later, they found the body on the roof, but Masleh tried to present the incident as that of an attack during a loot by some unidentified person.As the police got information about the incident, cops from Sudhar police station reached the spot and started investigation. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ludhiana (Rural) Varinder Singh said even as it was a blind murder, police cracked it due to timely questioning of the accused, who confessed to having committed the crime. He added that Masleh was booked for murder in the evening, and has been arrested.Police officials said Shabnam is survived by three daughters, one of whom studies in Delhi. They added that Masleh had been transferred to Halwara from Jodhpur around two months ago.
