MANSA: The Mansa police on Sunday apprehended a proclaimed offender who is facing 12 cases of fraud with a private bank.Fourty two-year-old Pala Singh of Mehmada village near Sardulgarh town of Mansa had defrauded HDFC Bank branch of Sardulgarh for Rs 5.77 crore in year 2014 by obtaining loans in 12 different cases on forged documents. His aide, revenue patwari Kirpal Singh, had died some time ago. During the last nearly four years, he had been staying in the UP, Haryana and MP to evade arrest, said the police.During this period, 12 other cases were registered against him for not appearing in court before being declared a PO. A special investigation team was formed to arrest him in 2016.Sources said Pala used to get loans in the names names of other people by forging revenue record. He used to keep the loan amount by obtaining it in the name of different persons. The police are also investigating the role of those in whose names the loans were obtained.“Pala Singh, along with patwari Kirpal Singh, had forged documents in 2014 and had obtained loans to the tune of Rs. 5.77 crore in the names of 12 people by forging documents. An SIT was formed to investigate the cases of fraud and Pala Singh continued evading court hearings due to which equal number of cases were registered against him on court orders. His accomplice Kirpal Singh had died during the course of investigations. It is on Sunday that police succeeded in arresting Pala Singh from Sardulgarh”, Mansa SSP Mandhir Singh.
