LUDHIANA: Khanna police on Friday arrested two drug peddlers after recovering 2kg opium and 65 bottles of intoxicants at various places in the area.Giving details, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Khanna said as part of the special campaign against drug trafficking and misdemeanours, Khanna police had set up a checkpost at a mall on GT Road for checking suspected vehicles and persons. He added that on checking the persons and the vehicle, police recovered 2kg opium from their vehicle, and arrested the accused on the spot. He added that the accused had packed the consignment in the window’s inner space.In the second case, a police party was checking suspicious vehicles and persons on GT Road, Khanna. Police said during the checking, a person coming on foot from Gobindgarh side through a service lane was stopped and checked. He added that during the checking, a jeep was coming from Gobindgarh side, which the police party stopped on suspicion.The SSP said that on being asked, persons in the vehicle identified themselves as Ravinder Singh Yadav of and Anish, both from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.
