PATIALA: Unwilling to send his 20-year-old son abroad to start a new life, a former Armyman shot dead his wife as she insisted upon arranging money to send him to Malaysia Gurdeep Singh, who works as a guard at a private school in SST Nagar, opened fire at Kulwinder Kaur using his licensed .12 bore gun outside the school, when she came along with their son Vikramjit Singh and her brother Harkrishan to pursue him to give in to the demand being put up by their son.According to police, Vikramjit had been asking his father to arrange for money so that he could shift to Malaysia.However, Gurdeep had been opposing the proposal and wanted Vikramjit to get a job near his home and settle down.This had become a bone of contention between the father and son and they would often fight over the issue.On Sunday, Vikramjit again raised the issue with his father and this time his mother Kulwinder Kaur also came out in his support. However, enraged by the contentions being put up by the two, Gurdeep forced them out of his house in Ranjit Nagar. Following this, the two went to the maternal house of Kulwinder Kaur and on Monday, her brother Harkrishan Singh accompanied them to the private school. On seeing the three, Gurdeep picked up his gun and opened fire on the three. The bullet hit Kulwinder Kaur, who fell on the ground, said police officials.She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where Gurdeep Singh also came along. However, after doctors declared her dead, Gurdeep Singh fled from the spot.A police team reached the spot and registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code(IPC) and Sections 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act against Gurdeep Singh. Cops later arrested him.
