‘Arrest all accused’: Rinkle’s kin burn Congress leaders’ effigies

LUDHIANA: The family of slain BJP supporter Jagdeep Singh Rinkle staged a protest against police and Congress leaders at Soofiyan Chowk on Sunday. The councillor’s younger son, Jaspreet Singh Mani, has been threatening us to withdraw the case. The Congress leaders and the police will be responsible if we are attacked.”Rinkle was allegedly murdered by Jatinder Pal Singh Sunny, the councillor’s elder son, and his accomplices on July 19 following an old rivalry. They alleged that the Congress leaders were sheltering the party councillor, Gurdeep Singh Neetu, and pressuring the police not to arrest him.The protesters also burnt effigies of Congress Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, MLAs Surinder Dawar and Sanjay Talwar and raised slogan against them. The police have taken back our security.

Rinkle’s kin threatened to intensify the protest if all the accused, including the councillor, were not arrested.Rinkle’s brother Mani Khera said, “Two months have passed since my brother’s murder, but the police have still not arrested the councillor and his son’s associates — Sunny, Sandy and Karan — due to political pressure. The councillor’s younger son, Jaspreet Singh Mani, has been threatening us to withdraw the case. The police have taken back our security.
