Down with choked sewerage, residents take to streets against MC

He feared that there are chances of diseases in the area. Ludhiana: With overflowing sewage making their life hell for the past 15 days, residents of Dakshin Vihar, Model Town Extension, C block, took to streets on Saturday to lodge a protest against the Ludhiana municipal corporation for “sitting on their complaints and not resolving the serious issue.”The residents rued that they raised the matter with officials, but it did not bring any result. He said after their protest, officials have promised them to resolve their problems.Ravinder Garg, superintending engineer, operations and maintenance cell, said, “I was not aware of the complaints, but will get the problem fixed very shortly.”Congress councillor Lapran said, “This area is not in my ward and there was no protest in any of the areas of my ward.” While residents blamed councillor Parvinder Lapran for not paying attention towards their complaints, the councillor said this area doesn’t fall in his ward.Amandeep Gulati, an area resident, said, “On the one hand, the civic officials talk of keeping city neat and clean as part of Swacch Bharat Mission, but on the other, they fail to provide very basic facilities to the residents.”He said when officials cannot clear choked sewerage of an area for over 15 days, then it shows that they cannot do anything.
