Teachers' protest: Officials get notice

They claimed that while services of the teachers is to be regularised but due to the arbitrary conditions imposed by the government they were unable to accept the reduced salary and this had to resort to holding a protest at Patiala as a consequences of which some of the teachers were either suspended or transferred to far off places as punishment. PATIALA: The protesting teachers on Saturday restored to legal remedy and served a legal notice to the officials of the state education department along with the district education officers across the state for using coercive means of punishment to thwart their protest The notice stated that the teachers working in various government schools have been protesting against the notification issued by the government to regularise their services vide a notification issued on October 9 under which the department has arbitrarily imposed the conditions of giving basic pay of the cadre plus grade pay from the date of regularisation.The notice states that teachers were getting more than Rs 42,800 a month and they cannot survive with this meager salary being offered by the department.
