LUDHIANA: A week after getting engaged, a 24-year-old woman was attacked with acid inside her house on Tibba road on Thursday night.An unidentified accused knocked the door of her house and as soon as the woman, identified as Pushpa Rani, opened it, the accused threw acid and escaped.On hearing her screams, the family rushed out and took the girl to a private hospital on Brown Road.Woman's father Ram Bachan, a hosiery worker, told police that her daughter got engaged on November 8. However, he did not know who attack her with acid.Inspector Mohammad Jamil, station head officer (SHO) Tibba Road police station , said since the girl had recently got engaged, the police are suspecting some love angel in this case. However, it would be ascertained after investigation, he added. The girl suffered 20% burn injuries on her face, arms and chest. According to doctors the acid used was not very strong.The girl is undergoing treatment in a hospital. Meanwhile, the police have started scanning CCTV cameras installed in the locality to trace the accused.
