Industrial projects upto Rs. 10 cr to be cleared at DC level: Kharbanda

Industrialists should read this policy thoroughly and share the important aspects of this policy with their staff as well. Industrial and business development policy of the state government has been framed after several deliberations with all stakeholders so that the industrialists can avail full benefits of the policies. A large number of industrialists from different industrial associations participated in this workshop.Addressing the industrialists, Kharbanda said, “The main aim of the Punjab government is to provide an atmosphere where ease of doing business is the main priority. Industrial and business development policy of the state government has been framed after several deliberations with all stakeholders so that the industrialists can avail full benefits of the policies. Industrialists should read this policy thoroughly and share the important aspects of this policy with their staff as well. Several policies for the welfare of industry have been framed by the government and there is no shortage of funds when it comes to boosting industrial growth in Punjab, therefore businessmen should take full advantage of the policies of the government”Kharbanda also added, “Earlier deputy commissioners had the powers of sanctioning projects of up to Rs 1 crore, but very soon, they would have powers to clear projects worth up to Rs 10 crore. Once this new rule comes into effect several projects that were earlier cleared at the headquarter level would be cleared at district level only. An awareness workshop in this regard for all 22 deputy commissioners of the state would be organised on January 21st at Chandigarh, which will be chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. During this workshop, the DCs would be made aware about the industrial and business development policy of the state government”Kharbanda also informed that for the benefit of sick units, the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC) and Punjab Financial Corporation (PFC) have come up with a One Time Settlement (OTS) policy, under which the industrial units can apply for one time settlement of their dues till March 31st 2019. He said that till date, around 200 industrialists have already applied for OTS.Speaking on the occasion General Manager of District Industries Centre, Mahesh Khanna said that a District Delayed Payment Committee (DDPC) has been formed in Ludhiana, with Deputy Commissioner as Chairman. He said that all disputes related to delayed payments are put up in this Committee and till date, 38 cases have already been resolved, while around 200 more are in pipeline.Prominent among those present on the occasion included SM Goyal, Additional Director, Department of Industries & Commerce, Punjab, Navinder Sharma from National informatics centre, Abhishek Puri from consultant agency KPMG, Ashok Prashar, consultant, besides representatives from industrial organisations such as United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association, Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings, Knitwear Club, Club, Fastners Manufacturers Association, Machine Tools Association.
