Probe demanded into shop allotment at Pink Plaza

Ludhiana: Members of All India Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust have written a letter to chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, raising the demand to mark an inquiry into the allotment of a shop in Pink Plaza by Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Glada). Moreover, shopkeepers claimed there were so many eateries in the market, so there was no requirement of any canteen there. He demanded the CM to intervene and allot the shop again at market price.Shopkeepers in the market had stopped Glada officials on Tuesday, because they had installed water coolers at the spot, from where all of them get cool water in summer.

Glada officials had tried to get possession of a shop on February 12, where a canteen would be opened, but due to protest and resentment shown by shopkeepers, they had to return.Trust president Ashok Thapar claimed 47 shops were allotted to shopkeepers in Pink Plaza, who were running kiosks in Chaura Bazaar a few years ago.
