Marathon to encourage voters

She said that this marathon would be conducted in two segments- 5 Km and 10 Km for both the genders. Officials said that more than 2,000 residents are expected to take part in this marathon. Ludhiana: In a bid to motivate residents particularly youth to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, district administration Ludhiana would be organising a marathon in the city on March 31.A review meeting was held by the district administration officials in this regard on Monday.Assistant Commissioner (General) Dr Poonam Preet Kaur informed that the main aim of this marathon would be to motivate the residents to exercise their right to vote and also to educate them about the importance of voting. The participants would be given T-shirts and the first three winners would be awarded with medals while next five winners would be awarded with cash prizes.Urging residents to take part in large number the officials said those interested can get themselves registered for participating in the marathon by visiting the office of District Sports Officer (DSO) at Guru Nanak Stadium, between 10 am to 5 pm on any working day.
