DBA polls: Wednesday last day for filing nominations

The filing of nomination papers by the candidates will end on Wednesday. The process for filing of nomination papers had begun on Monday. Ludhiana: As many as 12 candidates filed their nomination papers for various posts on the second day of start of filing of such papers in the District Bar Association elections slated to be held on April 5. However no candidate filed any nomination on the first day. She added that last date for withdrawal of nomination papers and displaying of final list of candidates is March 26.The election authorities said that minimum standing for candidates filing nomination papers for President, Vice President and Secretary is ten years, seven years and five years respectively.

Ludhiana: As many as 12 candidates filed their nomination papers for various posts on the second day of start of filing of such papers in the District Bar Association elections slated to be held on April 5. The filing of nomination papers by the candidates will end on Wednesday. The process for filing of nomination papers had begun on Monday. However no candidate filed any nomination on the first day. Amongst the 12 nominations filed on Tuesday maximum number number of nominations is for the posts of executive members.Sunil Dutt and B P Singh Gill filed their nomination papers for the post of President, R K Mourya, Jatinder Kumar Arora and Yogesh Khanna for Vice President, Davinder Singh Grewal for Joint secretary, Gurinder Singh Sood for finance Secretary and Charanjit Singh Channa for secretary. Those who filed their nomination papers for executive member post included Sunita, Rahul Nagpal, Reema Garg and Amit Kumar.Additional Returning Officer for the elections, Lalita Jain said that after the last date of nomination papers on Wednesday, the scrutiny of papers would be done by March 25. She added that last date for withdrawal of nomination papers and displaying of final list of candidates is March 26.The election authorities said that minimum standing for candidates filing nomination papers for President, Vice President and Secretary is ten years, seven years and five years respectively. They added that for joint secretary, Finance Secretary and executive Members it is three, three and one year respectively.The additional returning officer said that three places have been designated for posting the advertisement material including lawyers’ parking, parking near Feroze Gandhi Market and parking near the rear gate of the premises. Meanwhile the members of bar have started raising issues ahead of polls. “The main issues for us in the coming elections are more chambers for lawyers, better parking facilities, clean toilets and clean drinking water,” said Rachpal Singh Mand, a senior member of the bar.
