Ludhiana, June 17 The police have booked six persons including a couple for allegedly committing a travel fraud of Rs54 lakh with two residents of BRS Nagar, Ludhiana. The accused travel agent and their aides had allegedly taken money to send them to Canada, but failed to keep their promise. Now, the complainants have demanded their money back, but to no avail. The accused has been identified as Gaurav Sood and his wife Pooja Sood, both residents of Ireo Water Front, near South City Ludhiana; Chandni of Mohali; Surjit Ram of Nawanshahr, Bindu and Jatinpal. In their complaint, Gurvinder Singh and Jatin Pal said the accused promised to send them to Canada after taking Rs54 lakh. The accused failed to send them abroad and even did not return their money, they said. The complaint was given to the police in February. After investigation, a case under Sections 420, 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and 24 of the Emigration Act was registered against the accused at Dugri police station on Monday. The police said the accused were yet to be arrested.
