Two booked for Rs41-lakh fraud

The suspects have been identified as Anju Bhatia of New Hargobind Nagar and Gagandeep Singh of CMC Chowk. Many duped on pretext of investmentMeanwhile, two men committed a fraud of over Rs 18 lakh with several persons on the pretext of investment in a fruit-vegetable business. One day he visited the suspects’ house and was stunned to see there many persons who were also defrauded of their money by the suspects. An FIR of fraud was registered against the suspects who had absconded.

Ludhiana, July 13 The Model Town police have booked two persons, including a woman, for committing a property fraud worth Rs 41 lakh. The suspects have been identified as Anju Bhatia of New Hargobind Nagar and Gagandeep Singh of CMC Chowk. The complainant, Amarjit Singh of Phase II, Dugri, said he wanted to buy land at Model House from the suspects and the deal was finalised at Rs 3 crore. He transferred Rs 41 in the bank account of the suspects as advance payment. Later, they refused to execute land registry. Assistant Sun-Inspector Narinder Singh said investigation into the case was on. Many duped on pretext of investment Meanwhile, two men committed a fraud of over Rs 18 lakh with several persons on the pretext of investment in a fruit-vegetable business. The suspects have been identified as Vikas Tangri and Puneet, both residents of Rajguru Nagar. The complainant, Kali Charan of BRS Nagar, told the police that the suspects advised him to invest money in their fruit-vegetable business to get huge profits in a few months. He paid Rs 18 lakh to them. His friend Piyush Bahri also paid them Rs 7 lakh as investment in their business. When the suspects failed to give the two investors any returns, they asked them to return their money. But Vikas and Puneet started making hollow promises. One day he visited the suspects’ house and was stunned to see there many persons who were also defrauded of their money by the suspects. The house was locked. An FIR of fraud was registered against the suspects who had absconded.
