Intermittent rain leaves Ahmedgarh roads waterlogged

Students of GHG Khalsa Senior Secondary School, MGMN Senior Secondary School, Victoria College for Women, Hind Institute of Paramedical Studies, and Lal Bahadur Shashtari Public School are a harried lot as they have to pass through stink. The authorities at the Municipal Council said inclement weather had affected the construction and repair work of major roads. They said work on the reconstruction or repair of major roads would start immediately after the weather improves. MC President Suraaj Mohammad and councillor Deepak Sharma said the process of repair of certain roads had already commenced.

Streets and roads, including those connecting the town with the surrounding villages, have been rendered non-motorable. Potholes, mud and litter combined with overflowing sewage aggravate the problems further for commuters. Roads leading to bus stand, main market on Railway road, police station, grain market, besides educational institutes and religious places, are the worst-hit. Students of GHG Khalsa Senior Secondary School, MGMN Senior Secondary School, Victoria College for Women, Hind Institute of Paramedical Studies, and Lal Bahadur Shashtari Public School are a harried lot as they have to pass through stink. Such is the scenario that residents have to opt for longer routes to reach their destination. Residents of Amarpura Mohalla area, Guru Nanak Colony, Sukhdev Singh Nagar, Chhanna road area and Jawahar Nagar are also affected. The authorities at the Municipal Council said inclement weather had affected the construction and repair work of major roads. They said work on the reconstruction or repair of major roads would start immediately after the weather improves. MC President Suraaj Mohammad and councillor Deepak Sharma said the process of repair of certain roads had already commenced. “Though agenda for recarpeting of a majority of potholed roads had already been passed, we have advised the authorities concerned to undertake patchwork wherever required,” said Suraaj, maintaining that the process for undertaking work on rest of roads would be started as soon as possible.
