Ludhiana, August 22 On the second day of the Yarn, Fabric and Accessories Trade Show being held at Dana Mandi on Bahadurke Road in Ludhiana, individuals from across the country came to get a glimpse of the wide variety of yarns and fabrics that are on display. About 5,000 visitors made the most of their visit to the trade show on the second day. The special guests at the occasion were Knitwear and Textile Club President Vinod Thapar, United Knits Association President Amit Gupta and Woolmark Country Head Dilip Gianchandani. Visitors were impressed with the wide range of products that were on display. The fashion industry is heavily dependent on yarn and textile manufacturers. With Ludhiana being one of the leading producers of garments in the country, the trade show comes to them as a boon. One of the things that caught the eye of the visitors was the large variety of recycles polyester yarn. Ludhiana-based Longowalia Yarns Ltd Executive Director Sanjay Garg said, “We have a wide range of yarn and fabric on display at our stall. About 80 per cent of the yarn that we manufacture is recycled. When we make recycled yarn, we help remove plastic from the environment and put it to further use.” “The demand for the recycled yarn is growing,” said Surat-based Tribeni Group of Companies Director Abhinav Garg. “Recycled polyester yarn is made from PET bottles and European fabric manufacturers insist on using this yarn because it helps sustain the environment. With the popularity of recycled polyester yarn, we also see the demand for virgin yarn going down.” Coimbatore-based Sarmangal Synthetics Pvt Ltd’s Director Nirmal Jain said, “We have displayed value-added fancy yarns which are used in the hosiery industry. It is good to come to Ludhiana and get a feel of the industry here since the city is a hosiery manufacturing hub.”
