Fresh survey of inner, outer wards

Tribune News ServiceLudhiana, September 17Following a controversy over the list of 95 wards of the local Municipal Corporation, a committee gave recommendation to conduct a fresh survey of the wards to prepare a new list of the inner and outer wards. “The wards which are undeveloped will be included in the list of outer wards so that the civic body can focus more on development there. Malhotra had expressed doubts over the previous report of the wards as some inner wards were shown as the outer wards of the city. According to information, the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) had earlier approved councillor quota of Rs 1.5 crore for outer wards and Rs 1 crore for inner wards. Questions were raised as to why the inner wards which were already developed had been shown as outer wards.

Ludhiana, September 17 Following a controversy over the list of 95 wards of the local Municipal Corporation, a committee gave recommendation to conduct a fresh survey of the wards to prepare a new list of the inner and outer wards. After the committee meeting held today, Senior Deputy Mayor Sham Sundar Malhotra said the teams would conduct checking of all wards in the city. “The wards which are undeveloped will be included in the list of outer wards so that the civic body can focus more on development there. There are a number of areas where the roads are required to be constructed,” he said. Malhotra had expressed doubts over the previous report of the wards as some inner wards were shown as the outer wards of the city. According to information, the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) had earlier approved councillor quota of Rs 1.5 crore for outer wards and Rs 1 crore for inner wards. Questions were raised as to why the inner wards which were already developed had been shown as outer wards. Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu had then formed a committee to look into the matter. The committee members include Malhotra, Deputy Mayor Sarbjit Kaur, Ward 90 councillor Jai Parkash, SE Teerath Bansal, MTP Monika Anand and ATP (Headquarters) SS Bindra.
