Man caught for bid to kidnap 4-year-old boy

However, it turned to be a futile attempt as mother of the child woke up and raised an alarm. When the child cried, Kanchan woke up and snatched her child from the suspect. The PAU police station SHO, Parampal Singh, said the suspect seemed to be a drug addict and was arrested. He would be produced in a court to seek further remand in order to enquire into the exact cause of an attempt to kidnap the child, the SHO added.

Ludhiana, September 18 A man tried to kidnap a sleeping four-year-old child from outside his house in Rishi Nagar on Monday night. However, it turned to be a futile attempt as mother of the child woke up and raised an alarm. Several other residents also came out from their homes and cornered the suspect. The suspect was later handed over to the PAU police station. The entire episode was captured in the CCTV footage of the camera installed near the house. The arrested suspect was identified as Jaspal, also resident of the Rishi Nagar locality. Child’s mother Kanchan said on Monday night, after having dinner she was sleeping along with her son on the cot outside their house. At about 1 am, the suspect came and took her child in his lap. When the child cried, Kanchan woke up and snatched her child from the suspect. As per the CCTV footage, the suspect had initially done a recce of the street. Later, he brought a ‘rehda’ (hand-drawn cart) in which he wanted to carry the child. The PAU police station SHO, Parampal Singh, said the suspect seemed to be a drug addict and was arrested. He would be produced in a court to seek further remand in order to enquire into the exact cause of an attempt to kidnap the child, the SHO added.
