Two arrested for stealing ATM inverter batteries

The suspects had stolen these batteries from an SBI ATM. ACP Sameer Verma said the arrested suspects had been identified as Sumit Saini (22) of Joshi Nagar and Rupan Kumar (23) of Haibowal. During search the police recovered six inverter batteries from them, the ACP added. Recently, they had stolen batteries from an SBI ATM in Haibowal, the ADP added.

Ludhiana, September 18 The Haibowal police claims to have arrested two thieves and recovered six inverter batteries from their possession. The suspects had stolen these batteries from an SBI ATM. ACP Sameer Verma said the arrested suspects had been identified as Sumit Saini (22) of Joshi Nagar and Rupan Kumar (23) of Haibowal. Acting on a tip-off, the Haibowal police laid a naka near railway lines at Jassian village where the suspects were stopped for checking, the ACP said. During search the police recovered six inverter batteries from them, the ACP added. Revealing about the modus operandi, the ACP said the suspects used to target only those ATMs where no guards were posted and stole batteries of invertors. Recently, they had stolen batteries from an SBI ATM in Haibowal, the ADP added. Police remand of the suspects would be sought from the court for further interrogation so that more stolen batteries could be recovered, the ACP said.
