Snatcher held with 18 mobiles

The police have recovered 18 mobile phones from him and impounded the stolen scooter. The theft was reported to the company by Balwinder Singh, a caretaker of the mobile tower. BRIEFLY Ludhiana: The Tibba Road police have arrested one Rakesh Kumar, alias Kadi, resident of Anandpura Mohalla, for allegedly snatching cash, valuables and mobile phones from people at knifepoint. A police party, led by SI Baljit Singh of CIA staff, intercepted the suspect on a tip-off while on patrol duty from Baba Balak Mandir to Chander Lok Colony. Rakesh was riding a stolen Active scooter at the time of arrest. The police have recovered 18 mobile phones from him and impounded the stolen scooter. TNS Mobile tower batteries stolen Ludhiana: The police have registered a case under section 379, IPC, against unknown persons for theft of 24 batteries of a mobile tower located on the road from Kanech to Bhora Sahib Rampur village. Besides, a battery of the generator set was also stolen. Jagdev Singh, resident of HJ 669, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, who works as a supervisor with ATC Tower Company, lodged a report with the police that the batteries of mobile tower and generator were stolen on the night of October 28. The theft was reported to the company by Balwinder Singh, a caretaker of the mobile tower. TNS Ludhiana: The police have arrested Deepak Bhalla, a resident of Aman Park; and Palwinder Singh, resident of Ranchi Colony, Threeke, for violation of prohibitory orders promulgated by the Police Commissioner regarding closure time of restaurants. SI Hardev Singh of Police Division 5, who conducted a raid on D-Roasters Restaurant in Kipps Market on Sunday night, found food being served to customers after 11.30 pm in violation of prohibitory orders issued under 144 CrPC for closure of all eateries and restaurants by 11.30 pm. A case under section 133, IPC, has been registered against the arrested persons. TNS Ludhiana: Division No. 4 police have arrested a tempo driver Sunny Malhotra, a resident of Grewal Colony, for wrong parking and causing obstruction in the flow of vehicular traffic. Sub-Inspector Kuldeep Singh, who was on patrol duty, said while going from the police station to Daresi side, he came across a tempo parked in the middle of the road near Dargah Baba Ladhe Shah. A case under section 283, IPC, has been registered against the truck driver. TNS Man nabbed with poppy husk Ludhiana: The Sahnewal police have nabbed Darshan Singh of Umaidpur village with 2.5 kg poppy husk. A case under sections 15/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered. According to SI Sadhu Singh, the suspect was intercepted at a naka near Dharor Sua Puli. On the sight of police party, he tried to slip away but the alert policemen did not let him go. TNS One held for illegal lottery Ludhiana: The Ladhowal police have arrested Jasleen, alias Prince, a resident of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, for allegedly selling illegal lottery tickets and darra-satta at a shop located in the main market of Ladhowal. He has been booked under sections 13-A/3/67 of the Gambling Act, section 7(3) of the Lottery Act and section 294-A of the IPC. The police have recovered Rs 2,700, one pen, one calculator, two charts and one notebook from the shop. TNS
