Drunk man kills wife at vehra

Tilak Raj, caretaker of the vehra, told the police that Suresh, along with his wife, had come to the vehra for renting a room in the evening of November 8. According to the complainant, he had seen Suresh consuming liquor and the couple indulging in a verbal duel over some dispute. “In the morning of November 10, I went to the room to get the ID proof of the new tenants. It seemed the woman died of strangulation,” said the care-taker of the vehra. The police have registered a case under section 302 of the IPC and efforts were being made to trace Suresh, who fled the room allegedly after killing his wife.

Our Correspondent Ludhiana, November 11 A woman, Sheela Devi (32), was allegedly killed by her husband Suresh Kumar Chaoudhry, a migrant worker hailing from Bisaura village in Buxur district of Bihar, over some domestic dispute at Sarbjit Garcha’s “vehra” in the Dhandari Kalan area on the night of Saturday. Tilak Raj, caretaker of the vehra, told the police that Suresh, along with his wife, had come to the vehra for renting a room in the evening of November 8. They were given a room on the third floor. The paper work for the tenancy was yet to be done, he said. According to the complainant, he had seen Suresh consuming liquor and the couple indulging in a verbal duel over some dispute. “In the morning of November 10, I went to the room to get the ID proof of the new tenants. I found the room was bolted from outside. I opened the door and went inside. I found Sheela lying on the floor, her face scratched and tongue crushed between the teeth. It seemed the woman died of strangulation,” said the care-taker of the vehra. The police have registered a case under section 302 of the IPC and efforts were being made to trace Suresh, who fled the room allegedly after killing his wife.
