Ashu holds meeting on Smart City projects

Ludhiana, November 12A new athletics synthetic track will be laid down at Guru Nanak Stadium and the work on indoor all-weather swimming pool will also start soon, said Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister, during a review meeting of several ongoing projects under the Ludhiana Smart City. The minister informed that the synthetic track at the stadium had worn out and would be replaced. The detailed project report for the second phase of Sidhwan Canal Water Front project has also been prepared, work on which was likely to start shortly. In the second phase, the stretch of Sidhwan Canal, starting from Jawaddi Bridge till Dugri Bridge, would be beautified. The work on the first phase had started on September 8 while the work on second phase would commence soon.

Repair of the indoor swimming pool at Rakh Bagh had also been a long pending demand of city residents, work on which would commence shortly, the minister said. He said the sports facilities in the city, including at the Shastri Badminton Hall and Basketball Stadium, would be upgraded with the best facilities. Besides this, a sports park is being developed at the dump site in Jainpur village of district Ludhiana at a cost of Rs 40 crore. The detailed project report for the second phase of Sidhwan Canal Water Front project has also been prepared, work on which was likely to start shortly. In the second phase, the stretch of Sidhwan Canal, starting from Jawaddi Bridge till Dugri Bridge, would be beautified.
