2 die in hit-and-run accidents in city

Our CorrespondentLudhiana, December 8A resident of Karamsar Colony in Basti Jodhewal was run over and killed by a speeding vehicle on GT Road (NH 44) near Greenland School last evening. The Salem Tabri police have registered a case under sections 279/427/304-A of the IPC. In a similar fatal accident near Greenland School on NH 44 (GT Road), a woman aged 40-45 years was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Friday. “In order to get her medical assistance, I took her to DMC Hospital where he succumbed to injuries,” said the complaint. The police have registered a case under sections 279/304-A of the IPC.

The victim, Darshan Lal (56), was returning home after attending a marriage function at Sidak Palace. In his compliant to the police, Jaspal Kumar, son of the deceased, said he and his father were riding two motorcycles with his father slightly ahead of him when a speeding vehicle hit his motorcycle (CD Deluxe, PB-10HE-0960) from behind. “My father fell down and was crushed under the wheels of the vehicle. He died on the spot,” said Jaspal. The Salem Tabri police have registered a case under sections 279/427/304-A of the IPC. Further investigation into the case is under way. In a similar fatal accident near Greenland School on NH 44 (GT Road), a woman aged 40-45 years was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Friday. Vinay Sabharwal, a resident of Industrial Area A, told the police that while coming back home from the Lodhowal side, he came across a woman lying on the road who had apparently been hit by a vehicle. “In order to get her medical assistance, I took her to DMC Hospital where he succumbed to injuries,” said the complaint. The police have registered a case under sections 279/304-A of the IPC.
