Man arrested for selling off sand seized by police

LUDHIANA: The Meharban police have booked a resident of Sasrali colony village for selling off sand seized by the police from illegal miners on Friday.The accused has been identified as Sukhdev Singh.Inspector Davinder Singh SHO at Meharban police station said the after seizing sand from illegal miners the police had dumped sand in a ground. On Thursday, when the police officials went to check they were shocked that there was no sand. The SHO said the police has launched a manhunt for the arrest of the accused. In the investigation the police found that the accused has sold it to some people.A case under sections 379 (theft), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of IPC has been registered against Sukhdev.
