Get water tested at agri university

If the lid loosens or the colour of water changes from purple to yellow, then the water is not fit for drinking. Giving this information, Dr Parampal Sahota said anybody could get water tested at the PAU. The second option available is to buy the water testing kits from the PAU and carry out a test at home itself. The report of the samples comes within three days and one comes to know about any bacteria or harmful chemicals present in the water sample.

All you have to do is to submit a water sample at Punjab Agricultural University for testing or buy a water testing kit from the university to test water on your own. Giving this information, Dr Parampal Sahota said anybody could get water tested at the PAU. “One has to first sterilise the glass bottle, fill it with water to the brim and submit the sample to the department as early as possible. The bottle should be properly sterilised by boiling, not just by washing, so the bottle is free from any infection or bacteria,” he said. The report of the samples comes within three days and one comes to know about any bacteria or harmful chemicals present in the water sample. The second option available is to buy the water testing kits from the PAU and carry out a test at home itself. These kits are available at the PAU gate number one and with the department. “The kit is priced at a nominal rate of Rs 30 and people can test water at their home on their own,” added Dr Sahota. The kit has all necessary instructions. The kit contains a small bottle, which has a purple coloured liquid, in it. One has to fill this bottle with water and keep it for 48 hours. The bottle should be closed properly with the rubber lid. If the lid loosens or the colour of water changes from purple to yellow, then the water is not fit for drinking. If the colour remains the same, then it is free from any bacteria.
