350 diarrhoea cases in Ludhiana

As many as 20 patients were referred to Ludhiana civil hospital on Saturday and six were referred to civil hospital Sahnewal on Friday evening. LUDHIANA: As many as 350 more diarrhoea cases were reported from Giaspura on Saturday, a day after the water-borne disease broke out in two colonies in the area.Diarrhoea also spread to another colony -- Maha Lakshmi Nagar -- in the area on Saturday. As many as 105 cases of diarrhea were reported from Makkar Colony and Samrat Colony , both in Giaspura.While 26 patients were admitted to civil hospitals in Ludhiana and Sahnewal , about 150 patients got admitted to four private hospitals. Dr Ramesh Kumar , district epidemiologist, said the cases are coming from other areas like Basti Jodhewal and Dugri too. Another 170 patients were reported at a medical camp alone.

Many patients are visiting dispensaries too, said sources in the health department.Though the health department confirmed 170 cases of mild and severe diarrhoea on Saturday, the doctor attending to patients at a medical camp in Giaspura said about 150 patients were admitted to different private hospitals. As many as 20 patients were referred to Ludhiana civil hospital on Saturday and six were referred to civil hospital Sahnewal on Friday evening.
