Ludhiana, June 27 Continuing its sealing drive, the building branch of the Municipal Corporation today sealed at least eight more buildings for violations of building bylaws. The matter of bylaw violations by owners of commercial buildings is sub judice in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Assistant Town Planner, Vijay Kumar, said portions of three buildings on Pakhowal Road had been sealed. These are the Allahabad building, Sheetal Arcade and a showroom near the Pakhowal traffic lights. Apart from these three buildings, two storeys of a commercial building at Ghumar Mandi were sealed by the MC staff. Three more buildings on Cemetery Road were also sealed besides a portion of a commercial building on Rani Jhansi Road. The ATP said the sealing drive would continue in the coming days. Meanwhile, the department carried on with its demolition drive. In the morning, a pillar, which had been erected on the road, was removed from a property in the Inder Nagar area. A basement at Sugandh Vihar was also demolished. Besides, an illegal shutter was removed from a private property in the Model Town area.
