Tributes paid to victims of factory collapse

Ludhiana, November 22 Firemen show resentment To pay tributes to the departed souls who were killed in the building collapse at Mustaq Ganj on Monday, a candlelight march was organised by the Malwa Sabyacharak Manch, Punjab, here today. The MLA of the Central constituency, Surinder Dawar, took part in the march. “They (firemen) and others lost their lives while saving the lives of others. May they all rest in peace, and may God give strength to their families,” said Dawar. The march started from the Jagraon bridge and culminated at the fire station near Clock Tower. Apart from the MLA, chairman of the manch Krishan Kumar Bawa, senior Congress leader Lucky Sood, fire officer BS Sandhu and students of DAV school paid tributes to the departed souls. They have demanded that the government should come forward to help the families of those killed in the factory collapse. — TNSSeveral fire brigade employees expressed resentment against the government and the administration. They said the fire brigade was suffering due to staff crunch, lack of safety gear, such as gum boots, fire proof suits etc, and other required material. They alleged that no fresh recruitment had been done by the government. Whenever any such incident occurred, the government promised goodies, but nothing happened on ground, a fireman alleged. One of the firemen alleged that when local MLA Surinder Dawar visited the site, he told the firemen that nobody had told them to enter the building which was on fire.
