A file photo of the scene at a pink polling booth in Goa last year. more-in As many as 17 pink polling booths managed fully by women will be set up during the Assembly elections in Udupi district. Addressing presspersons here recently, Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis said these booths would be decorated as per the guidelines from the Election Commission. The women staff at these booths will wear pink clothes. The 17 polling booths include 10 in Udupi constituency, two each in Kundapur, Kaup and Karkala, and one in Byndoor. A tribal booth will be opened at the Government Higher Primary School polling booth at Ragihakklu in Byndoor constituency. Members of the community are expected to perform tribal dance and display tribal art outside this booth. A booth manned by differently-abled persons is planned at the Government Higher Primary School polling booth at Bellur in Kundapur. Enrolled During the voter enrolment drive undertaken in the district from February 22 to April 14, as many as 20,682 voters were included in the electoral rolls while six persons from the district staying abroad too registered their names, she said. Furthermore, after the model code of conduct came into force in the district, 10 cases were booked and a total of ?19.05 lakh seized for being transported without proper documentation. The 10 cases include three each in Byndoor, Kundapur and Kaup constituencies and one case in Udupi. Of the ?19.05 lakh seized, ?13.75 lakh was returned on submission of proper documents.
