Three suspected Maoists sighted near Sullia

Three armed persons, including two women, suspected to be Maoists were sighted in Madappady village in Sullia taluk on Thursday evening. The labourer told the police that the armed persons entered his house around 8 p.m. while he was having dinner. The labourer found the two women carrying two pistols each, while the man was found carrying a pistol and a rifle. One woman was aged around 23 and the other woman around 35. Ravikanthe Gowda said the district police and the Anti-Naxal Force personnel were carrying out combing operations in the area.

The police said that the four come to the cottage of a labourer, a native of Kerala, who is working as a rubber tapper on the plantation farm of a resident of Madappady. The labourer told the police that the armed persons entered his house around 8 p.m. while he was having dinner. One woman was aged around 23 and the other woman around 35. The man in the group was aged around 45. The labourer found the two women carrying two pistols each, while the man was found carrying a pistol and a rifle. They took the food he had cooked out of the house and ate it in about five minutes. All of them quickly left the place, the police said. Superintendent of Police B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda said the district police and the Anti-Naxal Force personnel were carrying out combing operations in the area.
