Tulu film actor among twoheld for assault

The police said that Mr. Bhandary was reportedly at large following the assault. Bantwal police on Thursday arrested Tulu film actor Surendra Bhandary and two others for their alleged involvement in a case of an attempt to murder three persons in Baddakatte in Bantwal on June 11. Bhandary, who has been involved in several criminal cases in the district, acted as a villian in the Tulu film Chaali Polilu. The team also arrested Prithviraj J. Shetty (35) of Kumble in Kasaragod for allegedly sheltering the accused involved in the assault. The assault was prompted by the alleged ransacking of a saloon owned by a person close to Mr. Bhandary on June 10, by Bajrang Dal activist Bhuvith Shetty and his alleged associates.

Surendra Bhandary and his accomplices were accused of assaulting Bharatiya Janata Party activists Ganesh, Pushparaj and Charan at a hotel in Badakatte. Ganesh and Pushparaj were admitted to a hospital. The assault was prompted by the alleged ransacking of a saloon owned by a person close to Mr. Bhandary on June 10, by Bajrang Dal activist Bhuvith Shetty and his alleged associates. The police said that Mr. Bhandary was reportedly at large following the assault. A team of the District Crime Investigation Branch sleuths, led by Police Inspector Sunil Nayak, on Thursday arrested Mr. Bhandary (37) and Satish Kulal (37) from a hideout in Pachhanadka in Mangaluru. The team also arrested Prithviraj J. Shetty (35) of Kumble in Kasaragod for allegedly sheltering the accused involved in the assault. Bhandary, who has been involved in several criminal cases in the district, acted as a villian in the Tulu film Chaali Polilu. A case of cheating The Sullia police have registered a case of cheating against a consultancy firm’s representative for alleged failure in getting visa issued to a local resident. In a complaint, Ponnamma Murugesh said that Amarjeet (47) of Certis Cisco Consultants received from her on May 7 ? 75,000 towards cost of getting visa to Malaysia for her son. She has accused Amarjeet of failing to get visa for her son. She said that several people have been cheated by Amarjeet. The police are on the look-out for Amarjeet.
