Heggade mourns demise of Jain monk Tarun Sagar

Dharmasthala: D Veerendra Heggade , dharmadhikari, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala , expressed shock at the demise of Jain monk Tarun Sagar who passed away at Delhi’s Radhapuri temple after prolonged illness. The monk also fearlessly talked about social and familial issues along with his religious discourses and his words had the power to guide the society at large, Heggade said. The monk would often guide me in religious matters as well, Heggade said.While most religious leaders would espouse the deeper meaning of religion, Heggade said the monk would tell people on how they could use the same in their personal lives. Noting that people across religious beliefs were influenced by his demeanour, Heggade said even he was not immune from the monk’s scholastic maturity and was influenced greatly himself. “His mangala pravachan, guidance and inspiration, is something that I will always remember,” he added.

He was 51.Heggade recalled the opportunity he had got to serve the revered monk when he was invited to Sri Kshetra to participate in the Maha Mastakabhisheka rituals performed to Lord Bahubali here in 2007.The monk had undertaken deep and vast study about Jain religious scriptures and would give well-balanced discourses based on his understanding of the religion, Heggade said. Noting that people across religious beliefs were influenced by his demeanour, Heggade said even he was not immune from the monk’s scholastic maturity and was influenced greatly himself.
