The district swimming pool, which is undergoing repair and renovation works, will be thrown open for public use by the end of the first week of October. According to Roshan Kumar Shetty, Assistant Director of Sports and Youth Empowerment, the swimming pool attracts about 100 persons during weekdays and this number goes up to about 350 to 400 persons during weekends. However, the pool, constructed in 2015, near the District Stadium at Ajjarkad here, was shut down for repair and renovation three months ago. All these works costing ?10 lakh are being undertaken by the Public Works Department. It has two pools — one pool which is 25X22 metres and another small one for children which is 10X4 metres.
