It has two pools — one pool which is 25X22 metres and another small one for children which is 10X4 metres. However, the pool, constructed in 2015, near the District Stadium at Ajjarkad here, was shut down for repair and renovation three months ago. One problem was that the pool had no roof. This created problems during monsoon. Again during the summer, the scorching sun posed a problem to those who came there to swim. Hence, a tensile roof has been installed at a cost of ?1.2 crore. A crack had developed on the floor of the pool and this was creating problems too. The flooring has now been repaired. The small drainage surrounding the big pool to drain excess water is being provided with steel railings. Painting work too is being undertaken. All these works costing ?10 lakh are being undertaken by the Public Works Department. According to Roshan Kumar Shetty, Assistant Director of Sports and Youth Empowerment, the swimming pool attracts about 100 persons during weekdays and this number goes up to about 350 to 400 persons during weekends.
