Central Crime Branch sleuths on Thursday arrested a 24-year-old postgraduate student while she was allegedly trying to pass a packet of cannabis to her friend in Mangaluru District Prison. According a press note, the CCB sleuths went to the prison following a tip- off about a woman trying to provide cannabis to an undertrial during the visiting hours. A police team found the two reportedly attempting to sell cannabis to students near Shrinivas College in Valachil.

The police arrested the girl who was found with a packet containing 20 grams of cannabis. The police said she was reportedly trying to pass the packet to Mustafa, an accused in a murder case. The police produced her before the Magistrate on Friday, who ordered her release on bail. Absconder arrested The Panambur police on Friday arrested Rajesh Naika, 48, of Bantwal, who is reportedly absconding since April 2008 following his conviction in an accident case. According to a press note, Naika reportedly ran away from the court soon after he was convicted on April 4, 2008. He kept moving from one place to another to make it difficult for the court to issue warrant against him. Police Inspector Rafiq K.M., Sub Inspector Umesh Kumar M.N., constable Shailendra K and staff from Anti Rowday Squad in Panambur were involved in arresting the accused. Two arrested The Mangaluru Rural Police arrested Imran, 24, of Neermarga, and Imtiyaz, 33, of Arkula, for the alleged illegal possession of 1.3 kg of cannabis. A police team found the two reportedly attempting to sell cannabis to students near Shrinivas College in Valachil.
