Kudla student’s video album crosses 18 million views in 6 months

I now wish to come out with many songs in Malayalam,” Niyaz, a resident of Kasargod in Kerala said. When everything was finalised and I was scouting for a location, I thought my college was the best place to shoot. The song is a step towards realising my dream and I am delighted about the response it has received.

MANGALURU: Music has no boundaries and a student from Mangaluru has proven this once again.Olum Njaanum, the song sung by Niyaz Nijju , a student at St Aloysius College (Autonomous), here has got over 18 million views on Youtube in six months. According to Niyaz, this is the only Malayalam song on Youtube that hit a viewership of 1 million in just ten days of its upload.Aarum kaanathe aarum ariyathe ninte aa punjiri ennik nagulmo (without anyone watching, without anyone knowing, give me that smile of your’s), a love song revolving around a proposal was uploaded on channel ‘Classic Mission’ on Valentine’s Day.“I had written the lyrics a year ago and decided to convert it into a video album. My friends and I came together and began working on the project. When everything was finalised and I was scouting for a location, I thought my college was the best place to shoot. It was in perfect sync with the song,” Niyaz, a II year student of B.Vocation (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) at St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, told TOI.“The scenic beauty of the campus caught my imagination and we finalised the place,” he said.One of Niyaz’s best friends Salim has acted in the lead role in the song while one Hajra Haju has played the female lead.
