The incident comes close on the heels of a reported attack on a four-wheeler driver at Navayuga’s toll plaza allegedly by the toll booth staff at Sasthana in Udupi district last week. During the commotion, the accused staff allegedly hit complainant’s head with an iron rod. He was travelling from Mangaluru to Talapady in a four-wheeler and told the toll plaza staff that he need not pay the fee since he was a local resident. According to the police, Ansar (28), a resident of Narlapadilu, Talapady, filed a complaint with them on Monday accusing the staff working at the toll plaza of inflicting severe injuries on him on Sunday night. However, the vehicle he was driving did not have a local registration number and the staff insisted that he pay the fee.
