Man held on the charge of trying to incite communal hatred

The Sullia police on Tuesday arrested one person on the charge of trying to incite communal hatred by allegedly posting derogatory remarks against a religion. Suresh by District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai on Tuesday. Mr. Rai in his complaint alleged that the accused had made remarks against a particular religion on social media. At a time when the region is undergoing turmoil, such acts would only fuell the unrest, Mr. Rai said and demanded immediate action. District Superintendent of Police C H Sudheer Kumar Reddy in a communiqué here said Sullia police have regisered a case and are investigating.

The district police have given the name of the accused as Akshay Bolimajal. The action followed a complaint to Mangaluru City Police Commissioner T.R. Suresh by District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai on Tuesday. Mr. Rai in his complaint alleged that the accused had made remarks against a particular religion on social media. At a time when the region is undergoing turmoil, such acts would only fuell the unrest, Mr. Rai said and demanded immediate action. He was accompanied by several leaders and religious heads. District Superintendent of Police C H Sudheer Kumar Reddy in a communiqué here said Sullia police have regisered a case and are investigating.
