Raids reveal direct power theft at 341 spots in west UP

The discom filed FIR against the accused and determined fine of Rs 1.10 crore. The drive started on February 5 and the figures were made public on Sunday.The raids were conducted under the leadership of Ashutosh Niranjan, managing director, PVVNL, Meerut under the special ‘Anti-theft Drive’ in a bid to stop thefts related with electricity.The drive started from February 5 and ended on February 17 in Meerut, Baghpat, Noida, Ghaziabad, Shamli, Saharanpur, Dhampur, Gajraula and as many as 2,192 electricity connection points checked by joint teams of PVVNL department and vigilance.“Out of the 1,969 domestic connections which were raided, direct theft was going on at 302 spots and 13 electricity meters were found tampered.
