MEERUT: A semi-automatic Spain-made pistol was used to murder dreaded don Prem Prakash alias Munna Bajrangi on Tuesday, according to the FIR filed hours after the recovery of the weapon from a drain in Baghpat jail.The FIR further states that the pistol is stamped with the mark of the Spanish firearms manufacturer Llama-Gabilondo y Cia, and indicates the pistol was manufactured at their plant in Vitoria, Spain.“After the killer, Sunil Rathi, stated he had no licence for this weapon, he has also been booked under section 25 of the Arms Act,” the police statement said.In a detailed description, police also revealed that a magnet was used to pull up the weapon, which was wrapped in a plastic bag, from the drain.Bajrangi was killed at 6 in the morning, after which Rathi claimed he had dropped the weapon in a drain inside the jail. It took more than a dozen water vans to clear the drain to locate the weapon which was eventually pulled out at around 8:30 in the evening on Tuesday.Sub inspector Sanjeev Kumar , investigating officer in this case refused to comment on how the pistol was sneaked into the jail.“We are still investigating that aspect,” Kumar said. However, focus has now shifted to one Robin, considered to be the right-hand man of Rathi, who might have provided the weapon to the latter in one of their meetings in jail, but police as of now are tight-lipped on the issue.Meanwhile, Vikky Sunhela, another associate of Rathi who was rumoured to have shot at Bajrangi along with Rathi and was said to be an eyewitness to the murder told media during his appearance at the court for a case hearing, “I had eaten food with Bajrangi at night and even spent the entire night with him. Had I wanted to kill him, I would have done it at night itself and would not have waited for morning. I did not witness the murder and only heard the gunshots while I was in the toilet.”
